Intercare Group, a leading provider of integrated healthcare services in South Africa has just launched a first: a wellness company specialising in preventative, holistic and coordinated care for individual patients called Salubrity.
The new company Salubrity, whose principle aim is to “make great health possible”, has announced its first step: the introduction of two advanced genetic screening tests by Genoma: Serenity and Tranquility.
Serenity is the advanced genetic test by Genoma, to screen genetic variants which might lead to ovarian and breast cancer. Easy, risk-free, comprehensive, accurate, early and fast, Serenity screens the entire BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, detecting all variants from a simple buccal swab sample.
Nowadays, the leading scientists advocate for genetic screening for every woman from the age of 30 as part of routine medical care.
Serenity detects your risk of developing breast or ovarian cancer during the course of your lifetime. The earlier, better!
The second test to be introduced by Salubrity is Tranquility, the very accurate Non-Invasive Prenatal Test (NIPT) by Genoma. Performed on a standard maternal blood draw, this risk-free fetal DNA test early detects trisomy 21,18 and 13 as well as numerical sex chromosomal abnormalities, microdeletions and indentifies the sex of the baby.
During pregnancy, cell free fragments of fetal DNA are released by the placenta and circulate in the mother’s blood. This DNA is detectable from the 5th week of gestation and its concentration increases as the pregnancy advances. The amount of fetal DNA present in the mother’s bloodstream from the 10th week of gestation is sufficient to perform the Tranquility test with a very high level of accuracy of the results.
Thanks this exclusive partnership, Salubrity is able to offer to all its patient the opportunity to improve their knowledge about themselves and to take charge of their own health.
